Version 3.97.23, Internet released 06AUG2018. | [Top] |
ANDROID RELEASE ONLY. |
|
- IMPROVED: GDL90 traffic with latitude/longitude set to 0.0/0.0 but with a high accurate NACp value will no longer be considered a bearingless target because 999 out of 1000 times these are targets for which the position ADSB-B frame simply hasn't been received yet.
- IMPROVED: UAT precipitation radar now no longer tries to create a running loop but uses new tiles simply to update the current overlay. This prevents the ugly empty tiles that are otherwise shown for quite some time.
- IMPROVED: GDL90 based traffic now displays an ambiguity circle around each depicted airplane symbol based on the received NACp (Navigation Accuracy) value for that plane. It can range from 10NM to 30 meters.
- IMPROVED: GPS sharing & A/P now combines all messages into one packet to be send instead of transmitting each message in a separate packet. This solves the issue discovered with the Trio Avionics EZ Pilot AutoPilot.
- FIXED: The previous version removed ARMV6 support causing some 32-bit devices to perform extremely bad up to the point it was almost useless.
- FIXED: With GDL90, when the GDL90 source was not used as GPS source for the app, traffic would be shown always with an altitude band instead of a single altitude value despite the GDL90 device being equipped with a barometric sensor.
- FIXED: On Android 64-bit, filing a flight plan to RocketRoute with a personal RR account (username/password) failed.
- FIXED: [Menu] - [Nav tools] - [User waypoints] did not respond to taps on lat/lon editor control.
- FIXED: GPS Sharing & A/P now only uses upper case to and from waypoint IDs, and removes all non-ASCII chars like dot, comma etc.

|
- IMPROVED: TAF processing speed is significantly improved.
- IMPROVED: Android and iOS 32-bit versions performance improvements.
- CHANGED: All Android devices now use the same memory pool sizes as on iOS. This should reduce the number of memory related problems but could cause issues for old devices with less than 1GB of system RAM.
- FIXED: METAR & TAF downloads were broken due to a security change at one of the WX providers.
- FIXED: Airfield Frequencies are back on the Information Center Window (ICW) when tapping airfield details.
- FIXED: Routes with long legs could cause EasyVFR to crash when the number of airspaces involved in that leg exceeded a certain amount.
- FIXED: On initial install only one example aircraft was downloaded instead of all available.
- FIXED: a memory leak with NOTAMs on the map.
- FIXED: With the option 'Use Google Watch' in [Menu] - [Settings] - [Wearables] set to ON while 'Give spoken information' was set to OFF, EasyVFR would crash as soon as it approached a route leg change.

- FIXED: Density altitudes below -999' were not shown on the ICW for airports.
|
|
Version 3.97.0, Internet released 28NOV2017. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: The Vertical Profile View (VPV) now has a slider at the ruler (the 'SyncSlider') that can be moved left/right. When this is done, a marker on the moving map (the 'SyncMarker') is shown so it is very easy to find a corresponding location from the VPV on the 2D map.
- NEW: Improved Density Altitude Awareness: Provided recent METARs were downloaded, the ICW and TripKit will display a calculated Density Altitude for airfields.
- NEW: A new NOTAM filter is introduced to filter out NOTAMs with a lower limit higher than a specific altitude.
- NEW: All items on the EFB tab can now be directly shared with other apps and devices using the built-in operating-system specific sharing capabilities. This is particularly handy for exported breadcumbs (KML) files.
- NEW: Windows version now also offers 'Open in ...' for TripKit PDFs on the FP tab.
- NEW: Exported flightplans can now be shared with any app using the platform 'Open in..' functionality.
- IMPROVED: Changed size of wind barbs and EurWX symbols so they are not so massive anymore on Windows.
- IMPROVED: When doing a straight-in to a runway which elevation is unknown, the vertical guidance will use the airfield elevation as target altitude.
- IMPROVED: TAF color decoding.
- IMPROVED: When pinch-zooming on iOS or Android, the slide-to-zoom icon on the right hand side of the moving map remains for 2.5 seconds to (hopefully) have users who don't know yet understand this can be used for zooming too.
- IMPROVED: When the ICW was showing WX data and a new WX download was initialized the ICW would 'collapse' momentary and show no WX data at all anymore.
- IMPROVED: The VPV now shows the same icon for airfields as used on the moving map.
- IMPROVED: EFB document downloads, specially when the existing local EFB already contains a lot of documents.
- FIXED: When a TAF contained 8 or more time groups EasyVFR could crash if processing TAFs was multithreaded.
- FIXED: When a Dynon SkyView was used as AHRS for the 3D mode there was a 4 seconds lag.
- FIXED: When using FLARM as input there was a noticable lag of the aircraft symbol on the Moving Map
- FIXED: When a NOTAM data download was corrupted, EasyVFR could freeze or crash.
- FIXED: When using a GDL90 device as GPS source, EasyVFR would not properly record breadcrumbs.
- FIXED: Data loss on GDL90 could occur when running under high network load.
- FIXED: Moving map obstacle depiction based on NOTAMs is no longer happening for Australia to avoid erroneous location indications.
- FIXED: A few nasty memory leaks, specially with NOTAM warnings enabled caused EasyVFR to crash within a few hours of operation.
- FIXED: When loading a breadcrumb the menu did not close, making the breadcrumb review feature in the EFB basically unusable.
- FIXED: When searching for a string of exactly 4 characters EasyVFR always considered this an ICAO search and did not do a textual search as part of the name of the AeroData. E.g. searching for PULA did not return any results at all, while there is an airfield with the name PULA in Europe.
- FIXED: A possible memory buffer overrun when using XConn or the EasySIM simulator with EasyVFR.
- FIXED: On some Windows 10 systems reading or writing XML files could result in whole-degree rounding errors for latitude and longitude values due to locale settings.
- FIXED: When reversing a route the VPV now correctly depicts this reversed route.

- IMPROVED: When in Flight Mode, no attempts will be made to sync the Favourite Flightplans data anymore.
- CHANGED: Total overhaul of the FLARM sockets interface.
- FIXED: When using a GDL90 device for traffic data AND as GPS location source, the text 'GDL90' on the moving map would be painted red, despite the traffic data coming in OK.
- FIXED: When connected to a FLARM or GDL90 device and putting EasyVFR in the background, other apps were unable to communicate with the FLARM/GDL90 device because the UDP port was kept open.
- FIXED: Logbook was not / no longer able to update.
- FIXED: The WX Timestepper often allowed a too far ahead in time.

|
Version 3.95.17, Internet released 03APR2017. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Split screen revised! The split screen function now creates two equally sized windows instead of one large and two smaller ones. The top map (or the left one when viewing landscape) is the 'primary', the other one is the secondary. Only the primary map is controllable using the settings in the [Menu] option; the secondary map only accepts pinch-zooming. To switch primary and secondary maps, simply drag the secondary map to the primary map. This will make the two maps switch over.
- NEW: 3D Synthetic Vision has been significantly improved by showing an Artificial Horizon Indicator on top of the 3D view when an AHRS device is used like the iLevel SW2/3.
- NEW: 3D Synthetic View now shows a 'highway in the sky' path using boxes for the planned route at the planned altitude. When the last entry in a FlightPlan is a runway, then the 3D view will project a descend path from threshold altitude to threshold altitude +2000ft using a 3° descend path.
It is important to realize that the last part of the FlightPlan does not automatically adjust to intercept that glidepath! - NEW: A new Airspace Theme is available for USA users, which hides class E airspace.
- NEW: We significantly improved creating of route points (auto-insert for shortest route or simply append to current route) using the ICW (Information Center Window, the yellow overlay that is shown when a point on the map is tapped).
- IMPROVED: The FlightPlan tab now refers to routes everywhere to distinguish more from the phrase 'flight plan'. 'Flight plan” is now only used when referring to the document that has to be filed to an ATC unit.
- CHANGED: Android runtime RAM requirements have been raised with 40MB for all devices regardless of screen resolution.
- FIXED: 'UK Squawk listening areas' are now labeled 'Squawk Listening areas'.
- FIXED: The first label position for a Squawk Area airspace was not showing the listening fequency, but instead showed 'SQWK'.
- FIXED: DWD GAFOR and TopMeteo EurWX could not both be turned OFF, if one was turned OFF the other was turned ON automatically.
- FIXED: When a DirectoTo to runway was done the FlightPlan waypoint was not recognized as a runway but created as a user defined waypoint.
- FIXED: When a runway was part of a saved FlightPlan then the runway was not recognized as a runway waypoint when that FlightPlan was loaded again, but simply created as a user waypoint.

- NEW: The [Menu] screen now has a new [Help] button that launches internet based help. The plan is to improve this the upcoming weeks significantly including a support chat functionality.
- NEW: To get rid of annoying airspace warnings on take-off and landing, EasyVFR now suspends airspace- and NOTAM warnings when within a user-configurable range from the departure or arrival airfield. By default these values are 5NM and they can be changed via [Menu] - [Nav Tools] - [Warnings].
- IMPROVED: On Android, EasyVFR flagged a GPS signal as unreliable at the moment less than 4 satellites were used as solution. This now happens only if that situation is present for 5 seconds or longer.
- FIXED: If in Settings | Wearable Settings, the option 'Use Android Watch' was ENabled while 'Use voice output' was DISabled, EasyVFR would crash when a FlightPlan was loaded and the plane was flying off track.
- FIXED: On some devices, button fading did sometimes not work correctly.
- FIXED: When exporting to Garmin FPL format, EasyVFR will now make sure every waypoint uses a unique ID.
- FIXED: Exporting FlightPlans involving waypoints with a digit in their ID got these digits removed.
- FIXED: Exporting FlightPlans with place names as Waypoint ID did not work.
- FIXED: Flight plan filing: four-character place names are no longer falsely picked up as ICAO airports.
- FIXED: Flight plan filing: previously, the route time string was changed to include seconds.

|
|
Version 3.92.11, Internet released 16AUG2016. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Extended runway center lines. For all airfields used in a FlightPlan, all runways will be shown with extended center lines using an ILS-like feather graphic if the option to display runways on the moving map is ON. As an additional feature, EasyVFR will show the desired altitude the airplane should be at (using a 3 degree descend path) if EasyVFR detects the airplane is executing a straight-in. This is provided the calculated altitude is 700' AGL or more and the runway elevation is known.

- FIXED: On iOS devices, when viewing an EFB document, website or AeroData summary on the EFB tab, or when viewing the TripKit on the FP tab, the content of the shown documents could not be zoomed, resulting in very hard to read information.
- FIXED: When selecting a breadcrumb file for viewing, it will now also be visible on EasyVFR's own Moving Map instead of just via Google Maps or Google Earth.
- FIXED: Voice warnings containing clock direction ("Traffic at eleven o'clock") sometimes used negative numbers.
- FIXED: When on Android a document (PDF, website, HTML based view) was viewed once and EasyVFR was put to the background and after a while put back to the front, then EasyVFR would crash with a report about WebView must be on the same threads.
- FIXED: When using a FlightPlan with departure from or arrival on a non-icao airfield, the default used for the filed flight plan using the RocketRoute interface was set to the airfield who's ICAO was equal to the first for characters of the internal ID of the non-icao airfield. From now on EasyVFR will correctly use ZZZZ as indicator again in these situations.
- FIXED: When a place was choosen as alternate for a FlightPlan, the name of that place would not be visible on the FP Tab, but would be visible on the Filing Form used to file the flight plan via RocketRoute.
- FIXED: The various ETE data on the FP tab is now computed without taking the actual plane position into account, so always from the start of a leg to the end of a leg.

- IMPROVED: When the option 'Add PlanePos to WPT list when DirectTo' in the Settings screen is set to ON, then with each DirectTo button tap the app will create a User Waypoint representing the plane location at the moment the DirectTo button was tapped using an ID 'ACFT'. These waypoints can be maintained using the User Waypoint list.
- IMPROVED: In an attempt to improve the Android version capbility to detect if the position information is still accurate, a new settings option 'Require small GPS Movements' is available. When ON, the app requires at least a 0.0005 degree movement within each 5 seconds. If that does not happen, then the GPS position is flagged as inaccurate.
- IMPROVED: If EasyVFR was suspended for a long time, the WX and NOTAM reference date & times were not adjusted and could point to a way back in the past.
- FIXED: If an airfield had more than 16 georeferenced approach plates, EasyVFR could crash.
- FIXED: The Search Results window would not display strings with non-ASCII characters, and truncate the text at that text location.
- FIXED: When the User Waypoint maintenance screen was used once it was no longer possible to maintain User Waypoints added after that moment until the app was restarted.
- FIXED: When in Flight Mode and the ICW was activated by tapping on an airfield, that airfield was often displayed twice in the ICW.
- FIXED: When the departure airfield was changed, the MH column for the first leg would still retain the old value.
- FIXED: When loading a FlightPlan and EasyVFR was restarted, it would load the choosen FlightPlan automatically again, but then when saving new changes it has lost the original filename of the FlightPlan.
- FIXED: When the minimum required runway length for hard or soft runways was set to zero in an aircraft profile, EasyVFR would consider all airfields to be non-suitable.
- FIXED: EasyADSB and PilotAware without a GPS with option 'Use FLARM GPS as EasyVFR GPS' off often did not work.
- FIXED: TCAS warnings on the Moving Map will now always show the most critical one.

- FIXED: Often when tapping the closing cross on the Airspace Warning pop-up the GPS Calibrate function was triggered as well.
- FIXED: On the Search Results Window a pre-selected item could have been hidden by the search filter. Now the Search Results window will preselect only items that are not hidden due to filtering.
- FIXED: When the option [View On Map] was choosen from the Search Results window and then associated zooming reached the lowest allowed zoomlevel before the object was actually at the center of the screen, the panning was aborted. This resulted in the selected object sometimes not being visible or not at the center of the screen.
- FIXED: EasyVFR switched to New Zealand map theme as soon as center of map longitude passed 150E. This is increased to 160E so the Sidney area is using the correct Australian theme.
- FIXED: When tapping near an airfield that was previously set as departure for the FlightPlan, EasyVFR would offer to add it to the FlightPlan.
- FIXED: When airspaces were not enabled on the moving map, WX items would also not be shown.

Version 3.62.0, Internet released 20JUL2015. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: The TripKit now shows Distance and Speed in the user's prefered units.
- NEW: EasyVFR can now use the GPS and AHRS roll data from a Dynon SkyView.
- NEW: Bernd's Onscreen Approach Plate selector was implemented.
- IMPROVED: When setting an AeroData object as departure, EasyVFR always pops up a message that the user can do the same for the arrival. This popup now has an option to no longer show that popup in the future.
- IMPROVED: When rubberbanding (Tap & Hold on the magenta FlightPlan line), EasyVFR now determines if the drop was done on an existing AeroData object (closest object in range of .1 NM from the point where the rubberbanding was released). If so, that object will be automatically pre-selected so the user only has to tap [Insert into FP]. If no AeroData object is found, the exact lat/lon position is used as pre-selected item.
- IMPROVED: When searching for AeroData objects, the first item found will automatically be pre-selected in the search results window.
- IMPROVED: When a tap is done on a location on the moving map where the Information Centre Window would show no results for AeroData, the ICW will show Airspaces instead.
- IMPROVED: The Active Leg Arrow on the FP tab is less fat and isn't positioned to the leftmost side anymore.
- IMPROVED: On new installs the default map brightness is set to 140 (14 'clicks') because this way Airspace and AeroData stands out much better from base map data like roads and rivers.
- IMPROVED: When AutoWind is on, the [Reset Wind] button and the ability to change W/V in a FP leg are disabled.
- IMPROVED: Sometimes there was a slight rounding error for the seconds in the Waypoint manager list.
- IMPROVED: Emailing breadcrumbs and FlightPlan TripKits now remember the last email address used.
- IMPROVED: Names of legs used in the TripKit are now the same as in the FP Tab.
- IMPROVED: The onscreen buttons have new icons.
- FIXED: Google maps tile crashed on occasion.
- FIXED: When editing the ID for a waypoint in the FP tab its description would get obscured.
- FIXED: When for a leg in the FP tab the 'Crossed Airspaces' was opened and then the planned cruise alt was changed, then for the no-longer crossed airspaces the 'view' buttons were not removed.
- FIXED: When a user has an outdated plates subscription (for example DFS) but still has approach plates stored on his device, EasyVFR did not allow the use of those plates.
- FIXED: When place names where used in a FlightPlan, the Dynon SkyView would show these as blank lines after having received it through WiFi.
- FIXED: When panning across areas that required EasyVFR to switch data files due to a coordinate system change, a crash could occur. This was most noticeable at the US/Canadian border area.
- FIXED: When there was no wind known, the TripKit would show 998/0 as wind. This is now changed into 'N/A'.
- FIXED: Added 'Airspace Warnings Settings' to the Warnings page so you can now again specify what type of warning to give for each airspace type.

|
Version 3.60.2, Internet released 09APR2015. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: An entirely new menu system with combined icons and text greatly eases the the use of EasyVFR while still maintaining usability in rough air conditions.
- NEW: German Traffic circuits are graphically depicted using the OpenAir formatted platzrunden.txt. When the current GPS location is in Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland or Austria the app will ask if you want to install the public domain version of platzrunden.txt.
- NEW: South Africa Base Set added.
- NEW: Using the [Send/Get SkyView] button on the FP tab (which will be enabled via [Menu] | [Nav Tools] | [Settings] | [Dynon WiFi Settings]), EasyVFR can send and receive FlightPlans to/From Dynon SkyView EFIS systems using WiFi.
- NEW: Option [Settings] | [High framerate in turns]. When on (default), EasyVFR will interpolate GPS course changes when executing turns to reduce the lag normally shown.
- NEW: Option [Settings] | [Wearables] allows the user to specify what vibration notifications should be sent to a smartwatch in case one is available.
- NEW: Map rendering speed is improved significantly.
- NEW: Fuel Totals are now also shown at the end of the FP Tab.
- IMPROVED: When the user once turns off Flying Mode, the app won't engage automatic Flying Mode anymore until the app is restarted.
- IMPROVED: The system to determine where to insert a FlightPlan waypoint using AUTO INSERT was significantly improved.
- IMPROVED: The FlightPlan totals on the FP tab now include Inflight Fuel burn total.
- IMPROVED: In some situations where EasyVFR tried to interpolate wind from different altitudes or nearby grid locations it could happen that a wind direction was found, but wind speed was set to 0.
- IMPROVED: When uploading breadcrumbs a number was shown after the filename. To make it more clear what this means the words "In queue" are appended.
- IMPROVED: AUSWX: If AutoWind is switched from OFF to ON and the date/time of last download was too far in the past, the app did not popup a message to ask if the user wants to re-download WX. It does that now.
- IMPROVED: Newly created FlightPlans had wind 000/00 when AutoWind was off. This is now set to n/a. Mathematically this doesn't make any difference.
- IMPROVED: When entering 0000 as pincode in [Menu] | [Settings] | [Flarm settings], EasyVFR will not wait for the Flarm to send a passcode request. This enables EasyVFR to use other RS232-to-WiFi modules too.
- FIXED: On iOS and OS X, emailing a generated TripKit often crashed the app.
- FIXED: If an EFB document's URL contained a space (translated to %20 in the URL), EasyVFR could not show the downloaded file.
- FIXED: When rubberbanding the FP Line, the option [WPT+] to add it as a user waypoint was enabled, causing weird behavior.
- FIXED: If a VRP only had an ID and not a description then the map would display a hyphen (-) appended to the ID when zoomed in.
- FIXED: When activating the EFB option using the EFB button on the ICW or the EFB button on the Moving Map, then, when the EFB tab was already open, the EFB Tab would close and would require manual opening again.
- FIXED: On iOS when EasyVFR was installed for the first time, it would ask for permission to use location data also for when the app was not running. This is changed to "when app running" only.
- FIXED: The message that popped up to inform the user that the altitude filter was changed contained spurious text.
- FIXED: When deleting legs, the app would crash if the last WP was deleted.
- FIXED: On Window Phone 8, when a subscription had less than 30 days to go EasyVFR would quit the app.
- FIXED: Flickering of the screen on iOS when having used a drumwheel and tilting the screen.
- FIXED: User waypoints listed in the user waypoints manager could sometimes give 60 as seconds.
- FIXED: AUSWX: Every subsequent download of wind data did not store downloaded winds aloft data that was previously already downloaded. However, since that previously downloaded data file was deleted after a new download, the result was that almost all winds aloft data was deleted after every second WX download.
- FIXED: When in split screen mode and 2 or 3 touches were done on multiple windows, EasyVFR would handle them as a distance measurement.
- FIXED: On iOS and OS X, when a Leg was deleted with the degrees symbol in its description, the confirmation popup that asked if the user is sure to delete the leg was empty. This is fixed by replacing the degrees symbol with a space.

- NEW: PDF TripKit. This function generates a PDF file with a NavLog, Airspaces & Comms Briefing, WX Chart briefing, METARs & TAFs, FIS Chart briefing and a NOTAM Briefing. With one click generate all required documents for a safe flight! Then using the EasyPrint feature you can easily print and distribute the generated PDF.
- IMPROVED: Font- and button size selection. In de past, new devices often were not recognized correctly by EasyVFR and as a result the selected default font and buttons sizes often were too small. This entire system was revised. As a result, after installing this version the app might not use the same font- and button settings as you were used to. This is a one-time event only; you can adjust these now using [Menu] | [Settings], option [Overall Magnification], [MapObjects Magnification] and [Plane Symbol Magnification].
- IMPROVED: When selecting "Display" on the NOTAM tab, the Moving Map will now show the NOTAM's text in a white box when it pans to that location. Same happens when tapping a NOTAM on the ICW.
- IMPROVED: At various places in the app "NIS" was changed into "NAIPS".
- IMPROVED: ATC File flight plan: Performance Based Navigation codes were added.
- IMPROVED: ATC File flight plan: Addition of REG as an "other info" field in FP filing.
- IMPROVED: ATC File flight plan: Departure/destinations which are TCK's are treated as non-ICAO now (previously was ICAO as it had 4 digits TCKx).
- IMPROVED: On iOS and Android, the app will show the Zoom in & out icons at the rightmost position of the screen when the user uses pinching to zoom. This serves as a clue to the user that he can zoom by moving his finger up & down on the rightmost side of the display as well (“one-touch zooming”). On Windows these two icons will be shown permanently because it turned out for many win32 users it was unclear how zooming works.
- IMPROVED: A less conspicuous default Airplane Symbol is now used (no more flashing tip strobes).
- FIXED: Date & Time selections now take time zones and DST into account correctly.

Version 3.10.1, Internet released 20DEC2013. | [Top] |
|
- FIXED: EasyVFR for Windows 7 & 8 did not show all documents in the EFB for an airfield if that airfield had a document with a name longer than 98 characters.
- FIXED: In rare occasions, EasyVFR for Windows would pop up a message stating that the export of plates to the Dynon memory stick had failed.

Version 3.10.0, Internet released 20DEC2013. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: User-customizable airplane graphic.
- NEW: Digital ATC flight plan filing introduced.
|
|
Version 3.9.23, Internet released 03DEC2013. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Top left, the app will now show a GPS signal indicator. No image means no location service has been found at all. Red dish means no reliable position, green dish means position report is reliable.
- NEW: Revised PlotPlane symbol with flashing beacon and strobe lights.
- NEW: Using [Menu] | [Settings] | [Aircraft symbol magnification] the size of the PlotPlane symbol can be set by the user.
- NEW: A Windows 7 (or later) version including location/GPS support is now available.
- IMPROVED: VPV no longer requires a long tap to get airspace info or adjust the planned Altitude; a short tap is now sufficient.
- IMPROVED: DirectTo system button now limits search results to airfields only.
- IMPROVED: Color of AMBER METAR/TAF depictions has been slightly changed.
- IMPROVED: When wind is variable then both the Moving Map and ICW will show a rotating windbarb.
- IMPROVED: ICW now only uses one single station for the METAR/TAF depiction for all timeslices to avoid confusion.
- IMPROVED: When none of the NOTAMs to be displayed in the ICW has altitude information, then all the space reserved for altitude limits will be supressed.
- IMPROVED: WX reference time on the WX tab now follows the time tapped on the ICW.
- IMPROVED: WX reference point now follows the ICW selected location as the NOTAM tab does.
- IMPROVED: Queueing and downloading of selected EFB documents on the EFB tab now works in protected foreground mode. This results in significantly reduced download times.
- IMPROVED: If a NOTAM is received that was inserted into the NOTAM system less than 2 hrs ago, the NOTAM depiction on the Moving Map will display the depiction using an alternating brown/white.
- IMPROVED: If a NOTAM is received that was inserted into the NOTAM system more than 2 hrs ago but les than 24 HRS ago, the NOTAM depiction on the Moving Map will display the depiction using an alternating brown/purple.
- IMPROVED: NOTAMs that were created less than 24 HRS ago were displayed in brown everywhere except on the ICW. The ICW now uses brown as well.
- IMPROVED: When WX Master was toggled from OFF to ON all suspended WX downloads could suddenly get fired-off. This is now delayed for 60 seconds so the user has a chance to change any settings.
- IMPROVED: When panning from Australia to New Zealand and visa versa the WX download and NOTAM download toggle from 'special Australia mode' to 'general mode' so NOTAMs and WX for New Zealand are operational again.
- CHANGED: On the ICW the AeroData symbol and [Add Flightplan] buttons have swapped places.
- CHANGED: When loading a FlightPlan while there is an internet connection, if no reponse was received from the HQ servers within 5 seconds, the message 'Communication with the cloud is slow...' appeared. This timeout has been raised to 15 seconds.
- CHANGED: Switching to split screen is only possible when in Flying Mode.
- CHANGED: Switching to 3D mode is only possible when in Flying Mode.
- FIXED: When a time in the ICW was tapped that was in the same column as the closing cross, then that time was not selected.
- FIXED: When a NOTAM download failed, the button label remained 'Downloading'. This is changed into 'D\load failed'.
- FIXED: When setting the Briefing Range for NOTAM single location, the range was not persistent across sessions.
- FIXED: Wind coming from 360 was depicted overlapping the METAR/TAF depiction in the ICW; this has been fixed.
- FIXED: When working on a FlightPlan, when exiting and restarting the app often the FlightPlan worked on was not reloaded.
- FIXED: METARs that were issued at exactly the whole hour were also considered valid for the time mark exactly 3 HRS further ahead.
- FIXED: For Australian WX briefings it could happen that during 1 download 2 different TAFs were received for the same station (one original and one AMD). In these cases now only the AMD one is kept.
- FIXED: NOTAM Tab, WX Tab: When reference point was NWW-N the the compas indicator whould mention ?? instead of N.
- FIXED: For a very small number of airports (ESSA for example) TAFs and METARs were not found.
- FIXED: When having Overall Magnification in such a way that the options in the settings screen cover most of the screen, then when selecting one of of the settings causing the drumwheel to appear, then tapping [Cancel] would launch the next setting.
- FIXED: When using TrackUp display instead of NorthUp, the windbarbs would not rotate to the correct direction.
- FIXED: When using an overall magnification of 180% with a device with a width of 480px, the app would freeze after closing a tab.
- FIXED: When on the NOTAM or WX tab the user selected to change the location of briefing, the ICW would appear when the user taped on the map to set the new center of briefing.
- FIXED: When WX Master is enabled and the last METAR or TAF download was longer ago than the normal timespan used for autodownload, the app would set the date & time of last download to current, resulting in METARs & TAFs not being updated. This is now changed so METARs & TAFs will start their auto-download 1 minute after the Master WX has been turned on again.

Version 3.9.0, Internet released 09OCT2013. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Visual appearance of airspaces is greatly improved by using transparent full-filled, dashed and dotted airspace visual clues. Default a number of pre-defined styles are selectable using the new function Menu | Map Settings | Select Map theme.
- NEW: Single Tap handling is now much more advanced and useful because it launches the new Information Centre window where you’ve got all relevant information for the location you tapped is at hands. This Information Centre gives you frequencies for airports, runway distances, advanced Weather forecasts (hourly based, up to 60 hours for Europe including SigWX and visibility) and active NOTAMs for that location tapped.
- NEW: ETI [p|g] and ETA[p|g] were added as possible FlightPlan columns.
- NEW: It is now possible to tap on the ICAO code on the WX Tab to view the location of the WX station on the Moving Map.
- NEW: When tapping 2 or 3 points on the Moving Map, the distance between those points will be shown at the top of the screen together with the time to travel that distance based on the current ground speed.
- NEW: The NOTAM system is expanded with local Australian NOTAMs using the Australian Airservice NAIPS briefing service.
- NEW: EasyVFR now supports data received from the Android 'X-Plane-to-GPS' tool from Kevin Roll (see www.appropel.com)
- NEW: Support for Bluetooth connected GPS receivers on Android has been implemented.
- NEW: When a switch from mains to battery power or visa versa is detected, a message will be briefly shown to inform the user. When in Flying Mode AND a switch to battery power has occurred, the user must acknowledge the message so there isn't a risk of missing that important event.
- NEW: EasyVFR now restores the last used zoomlevel when the app is restarted.
- IMPROVED: NOTAM Tab, FP Tab and WX tab have a scroll bar indicator at the right hand side of the tab.
- IMPROVED: Zooming using one finger on the right hand side of the screen has been made much less sensitive.
- FIXED: Magnification levels higher than 300% were not executed.
- FIXED: FlightPlan tracks going exactly true North or true South could not be rubberbanded.
- FIXED: When EFB tab for Airfield A was opened and then one for Airfield B was requested, the EFB Tab would still open on Airfield A.
- IMPROVED: On the NOTAM Tab the labels for 'Display FIR NOTAMs', 'Display Headoffice NOTAMs', 'Display Airfield NOTAMs' and 'Display Trigger NOTAMs' have been changed into 'Hide...' because that is basically what they do. For example in the old situation where there was a Trigger NOTAM affecting an airfield and 'Display airfield NOTAMs' was enabled but 'Display Trigger NOTAMs' was not, then the NOTAM would not have been shown, causing a lot of confusion.
- IMPROVED: On some devices the Tabs would cover the maps' scale indicator. To prevent this the scale indicator was moved to the right of the tabs.
- IMPROVED: Pressure unit 'mb' was changed into 'hPa'.
- IMPROVED: Fahrenheit was missing as temperature unit.

Version 3.8.2, Internet released 23JUL2013. | [Top] |
|
- CHANGED: Nothing (Apple iOS release only).
|
|
Version 3.8.1, Internet released 30JUN2013. | [Top] |
|
- CHANGED: For European airspace, classes C & D are now made blue. Class E, F and G are yellow and CTRs will be depicted according to their class. Airspaces in Europe classified as Military are now depicted in orange and using a thinner line and hatching as it used to be to make them less obstructive.
- NEW: When zooming in on the Moving Map to the level where runways are displayed also top right of the airfield symbol will be a symbol indicating EFB content. 2 White papers indicate only the AeroData summary is available, a computer-with-arrow symbol indicates at least one PDF is available, and the plate symbol is used when at least one georeferenced plate is available. Tapping on that symbol will open the EFB tab and jump directly to that airfield's EFB entry. The behavior also depends on whether you're in flying or planning mode: in flying mode only the local EFB storage is used to build the symbology.
- NEW: Menu | Map Layout now has the options to toggle EFB content and runways, provided the zoomlevel is such that these objects are to be shown.
- NEW: A new menu option [Onscreen Buttons] exists. When enabled, all system buttons will be shown (as was up to now), but when disabled, all system menu buttons with the exception of the main menu button will disappear.
- NEW: Implemented User Selectable units for Speed, Distance, Altitude, runway LxW, Temperature and Pressure.
- NEW: When using the Search option you now can enter a latitude/longitude using format DDMMSSN DDDMMSSE. The coordinate will then be offered as user waypoint, and all objects near that coordinate will be shown as result too.
- NEW: If the current viewing area is Australia then the Settings page offers an option to enter NAIPS username and password.
- NEW: Australian METAR & TAF data is implemented.
- FIXED: EasyVFR would crash if a very specific command sequence was executed.
- FIXED: When saving an FP, EasyVFR now removes any invalid ASCII characters from the name to prevent cloud synchronisation problems.
- FIXED: A potentional crash with the VPV.
- FIXED: Runway surface type PEM is now shown using the dark runway texture, not the green " grass" one.
- FIXED: If the FP tab had the newline removed in the layout definition then the [Delete LIB] icon would be overprinted by the LIB data.
- FIXED: Fixed a crash when importing GPX FlightPlans with empty names.
- FIXED: When opening a breadcrumb file, on the MovingMap the first one was not shown at all, and all subsequent ones showed the previous ones.
- FIXED: When trying to delete multiple breadcrumbs after 4 or deletions (depends on the number of fields in the breadcrumb directory), the app would tell there were no more breadcrumbs and the proces had to be started again to continue deleting breadcrumb files.
- FIXED: EasyVFR had airfield symbols for military and military/joined mixed-up.
- FIXED: Breadcrumb records were only saved when the record represented a fix. This made it impossible to analyse "bad reception" situations.
- FIXED: If the position accurracy dropped below the "position is not valid" level then the last known good speed, altitude and course were kept and not reset to default values. This (maybe) could cause Flying Mode to engage again.
- IMPROVED: The FP tab has a higher tab image, and is moved to the second position in the tab order.
- IMPROVED: Airspaces that are marked as not having to be shown (for example due to Airspace filtering) will now also not show their labels anymore.
- IMPROVED: Implemented support for Android high dpi screens (Nexus 10).
- IMPROVED: Text size on the LOC Tab has been increased.
- IMPROVED: Magnification levels now have the option to scale up to 500% (useful for High DPI screens like the Nexus 10).
- IMPROVED: Improved the tap & hold on the Moving Map.
- IMPROVED: When a FP is loaded on next opening of the FP tab, the content will automatically scroll down to get the most of the FP in view.
- IMPROVED: The colors on the Search Objects window that were used to indicate the object is part of the FP and/or is selected are changed so they become better readable.
- IMPROVED: Choosing [Arrive] using the Search Objects window will now always append a leg to the FP, regardless if there are legs available or not.
- IMPROVED: The exact location on the Search Objects window was given in decimal degrees, this is now changed into DD MM SS.
- IMPROVED: When zooming in, VRPs will display their ID + fullname.
- IMPROVED: When flagging all airfield documents in a country for download, it could take a while before anything noticably happened. Now a progress text will be shown.
- IMPROVED: Downloading queued EFB documents is now less "relaxed" resulting in a little faster download times, provided the user doesn't touch the screen because this gives priority to non-download work again.
- IMPROVED: Queueing documents for download now shows status text every now and then so the user knows it's doing something. I still have to figure out why it can take so long to run the queueing, for example Australia.
- IMPROVED: Type D airfields never got their ICAO or name shown on the map.
- IMPROVED: The VP sometimes wrapped ICAO ID's over two lines.
- IMPROVED: With high magnification levels, the explainatory text on the Altitude wheel picker screen overlapped the drum.
- IMPROVED: If after first install the BaseSet download was not completed entirely, but the Aero- and AirspaceData was downloaded successfully, on next startup of the app the app would allow the user to continue. This has now been changed so the user is reminded to continue downloading the Base Set data.
- IMPROVED: If BaseSet data download is restarted, the AeroData and Airspace data will not be re-downloaded again.
- IMPROVED: On startup of the app, after having downloaded the BaseSet data, the app will offer to read the tutorials and/or view the instruction videos, with an option to never ask this again.
- IMPROVED: If an Approach Chart is overlaid on the Moving Map, that plate will be displayed in yellow on the EFB Tab to indicate that status.
- IMPROVED: Created an option for all platforms except iOS that when the app is terminated by the OS (for example because we're viewing a PDF outside the app) then the next startup will auto-continue without any delay (provided the AeroData is up to date as usual) to get to the Moving Map again ASAP.
- IMPROVED: When an (auto) METAR indicates visibility is unknown (////) or cloud base is unknown (//////) then those METARs will be displayed in black on the FP Tab and on the Moving Map.

Version 3.8.0, This version was never publicly released. | [Top] |
|
- Development version, only released to Beta Crew.
|
|
Version 3.7.9, Internet released 21MAY2013. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Runways are now depicted on the Moving Map when zoomed in to a specific level. Soft runways are depicted using a green texture, hard runways are depicted using a gray texture.
- NEW: FlightPlan legs can be deleted directly from the FP tab by tapping the associated X icon.
- FIXED: If there was a new version of an EFB document in the EFB catalogue then the update system could end up in an endless loop trying to get the new version, resulting in the Download Queue never to get empty again.
- FIXED: If a logbook entry was created based on the nearest object being a runway for an airfield with a 7 character airfield ID, then the entry in the logbook could be the ICAO airfield where the ICAO was equal to the first four characters of the 7 character airfield ID.
- FIXED: With the VPV on and no FlightPlan loaded, then when selecting or de-selecting a mapobject the app would crash.
- FIXED: A potentional crash when using the VPV for a long-distance FlightPlan.
- IMPROVED: The scrollbar on the EFB tree could get very small if there where a lot of documents; now it uses a minimum size.
- IMPROVED: In 3D mode, when very close to the ground (for example taxing, lining up etc) the terrain could be painted "upside down" (in fact the terrain was painted above the Point of View).
- IMPROVED: WX looping is more smart by taking only the real options selected by the user into account.
- IMPROVED: VORTACs will have the frequency displayed on the Moving Map too.
- IMPROVED: DMEs will have their frequency displayed on the Moving Map too.
- IMPROVED: If a VOR has a DME, a small subscript "D" will be printed left of the VORs ID on the Moving Map.
- IMPROVED: The splitscreen option now enables the 3D map to switch to 2D, and then on that 2D map choose separate basemaps or plates to overlay. This basically means on Moving Map A you can do a "wide area overview" and on Moving Map B a more detailed, for example approach chart overview.

|
Version 3.7.5, Internet released 02MAY2013. | [Top] |
|
- FIXED: A FlightPlan saved using PocketFMS Desktop with a speed unit other than knots did not convert the speed correctly when loading into EasyVFR.
- IMPROVED: The System Button [DirectTo] now uses the center of the Moving Map shown as reference point instead of the actual plane location. This makes it possible to avoid the use of the tap&hold on the Moving Map to get to the AeroData Search window.
- IMPROVED: Sensitivity of tap & hold on the Moving Map is improved to avoid popping up unwanted Airspace Info while AeroData objects window was desired.
- IMPROVED: Symbols on the Moving Map for heliports, glider airfields, abandoned airfields, ultralight airfields and waterdromes have been made smaller.
- IMPROVED: FlightPlan track line width has been reduced.
- IMPROVED: Obstacle elevation text was slightly overprinting the obstacle symbol. This is now clearer.
|
|
Version 3.7.1, Internet released 02MAY2013. | [Top] |
|
- NEW: Vertical Profile View (VPV) vshowing terrain & airspaces for the FlightPlan being worked on when in planning mode. When in Flying Mode the VPV will show live terrain and airspaces ahead along the current track.
- NEW: EFB system with approach plates. The new EFB system holds all European approach plates available in AIPs, supplemented with the plates from Pooleys and the DFS; many of them are (or will soon be) geo-referenced to overlay on the Moving Map. Australian users have access to DAP and ERSA pages, Canadian users have access to COPA’s “Places to Fly” and USA users have the FAA’s A/FD details at their fingertips. Access to this wealth of information can be gained using the EFB tab or by selecting [Airfield Info] from the tap & hold AeroData search results list.
- NEW: FlightPlan export to GPX format and import from GPX format.
- NEW: Australian users can file their flight plan using a NAIPS for Windows Flight Notification File.
- FIXED: Occasionally FlightPlans could cause a crash if they contained an obstacle or place where no RNAV (VOR + radial/distance) could be determined.
- FIXED: When more than 500 Breadcrumb files exist in the breadcrumb directory, the breadcrumb picker (for viewing or deleting of breadcrumbs) would crash.
- FIXED: When doing multiple Breadcrumb deletions after a few times the app would crash.
- FIXED: When starting the app in landscape, tap & hold to search for objects would then only work in landscape mode. If turning the device to portrait then the selection buttons would not be accessible.
- IMPROVED: All drum selectors now have explanatory text.
- IMPROVED: Overall speed of FlightPlan analyzing has been improved.
- IMPROVED: High DPI screens are now supported such as the iPad 3+4 and Nexus 7.
- IMPROVED: Overall speed of panning & zooming of the Moving Map has been improved.
- IMPROVED: Auto activation of Flying Mode has been refined to prevent it being activated when indoors with a weak GPS signal.
- IMPROVED: Breadcrumb file recorded altitude as pure altitude without the correction as given by the user. This is now fixed, and the given correction is stored as separation value in the breadcrumb record.
- IMPROVED: When tap & holding on the extended flight plan track line on the moving map the app considered that to be rubber banding. This is now handled more intelligently.
- IMPROVED: Some users experienced very annoying data download failures and needed multiple re-starts to complete the downloads. The download function has now been improved.
- IMPROVED: AeroData objects which are part of a FlightPlan will now be displayed on the moving map even if the user has unselected those object types for display on the Moving Map.
- IMPROVED: When a tab was open in portrait and then the device was rotated to landscape, if the tab position fell outside the screen then it was impossible to close that tab. Rotation is now handled better.
- IMPROVED: The default plane position is set to the approximate center of the area of the downloaded Base Set instead of waiting endlessly for a first GPS 3D fix.
