ATC Flight Plan Filing.
EasyVFR will allow you to directly file the flight you have planned with ATC. The details of the flight that you have planned will automatically be incorporated, and a minimum of extra attention from your part is required to make the flight plan official. Delays & cancellations are also handled.
To start filing your flight plan with ATC, just press the File FP button on the FP tab.
- Required flight planning licence.
A PocketFMS Frequent Flyer Member (FFM) can file ATC flight plans for free; it's part of the FFM licence. If you have an EasyVFR-only licence, you'll need to subscribe to our Filing Service. It will allow you to file an unlimited number of flight plans for the period of 1 year. You will be prompted to purchase such a licence if required; the costs are minimal. A single licence is required, even if you have EasyVFR for iOS and Android, provided they're on the same account with us.
Once past the licence check, you can select whether you wish to File a flight plan, Delay it or Cancel it by pressing the appropriate button. Obviously, you can only cancel or delay flight plans that you filed on this device.
- Start filing a flight plan.
If you have pressed the File button, you'll go to a page where you can set a lot of the variables that are in each flight plan. Most of the values will be stored for later use (such as the callsign, equipment and pilot credentials). If you have a FlightPlan opened in EasyVFR, the route, time, speed and such will already have been filled out - though you can of course review each of these values manually.
The vast majority of options will be clear to everyone who's ever been involved in filing a flight plan, but the details for each of the fields are mentioned in any AIP, ENR 1. Every button that shows a red light bar needs to be corrected before your plan can be submitted.
- Rocket Route.
If you have your own Rocket Route account, you can enter the credentials via the Rocket Route button all the way down the flight plan page. If you leave these empty you'll be filing your flight plans via a general PocketFMS account.
When you have your own Rocket Route account details filled out in EasyVFR, any flight plans will be filed via your Rocket Route account. You can then manage them via the Rocket Route website.
- File Plan button.
When satisfied, push the File Plan button. Your flight plan will be examined by EasyVFR, and any omissions found will be signaled to you before the plan will actually be filed. If you have your Rocket Route credentials entered, the flight plan will be filed via your RR account.
